SMAIBLUE: "That's Enough Love Songs - See You Soon" Album

A warm and enchanting album capturing what real emotions would sound like was perfectly portrayed in Smailblue’s “That’s enough love songs – See you soon”. It somewhat elevates your feelings to a world of mixed bliss, love and art. Smaiblue’s artistry in portraying emotions in form of music has been beautifully achieved, making you feel like you’re in a nostalgic epiphany.

“Navigate” was the perfect choice to be the opening track as it starts with an enticing atmosphere setting the listener's mood of what’s to come for the whole album. He also features vocals in this track from the Indonesian singer SYAUU. The piano accompanying sounds like drops of sunlight across a still pond and matches the soft harmonizing vocals. This track was then followed by the captivating instrumental “How it feels when it’s just us being close” which sounds like a love spell being cast on you as you follow that certain melody on a lost path.

Continuing to walk down the path in a dream-like state we then encounter “Last Love” which is like an ode to your dearly beloved. Here he enriches sincerity of what the person feels, it’s like what a tight embrace would sound like. “Caught in September” captivates a feeling of frustration but still filled hope and the lullaby-like tones that echoes throughout the song act like a reassurance and comfort for the person’s mind.

“Crimson Staircase” then brings you to a different journey but still inside the universe of Smaiblue’s signature music artistry. It actually prepares you to walk through the track in “Two Different Worlds” because the ending melody of the previous track connects with the opening melody of this song. This part takes you away from the warm atmosphere to somewhere with deepened intense emotions. To continue the momentum of intensity “Waltzing in a Factory” plays subtle hints of a theatrical mood, as if the protagonist now has reached to the point of return and tries to look back his past but must continue on forward.

After all the intensity “Our Hidden Warmth” surprisingly but gracefully calms you away as if peace paints itself to your soul casting a spell for you to let your mind wander through a meditative state. Then peace takes you by the hand leading you. “At Her Favourite Spot”, makes you feel like an observer of someone who is enjoying the serenity of the place and this song lets you admire the whole mood.

“The Way You Drift” now tries to rest the journey, showcasing a flowy curtain of guitar work. It echoes a voice of longingness and admiration. “Glove” then bids the whole journey with this emotional track letting you know you’re almost at the end of the path. Then you finally take the last step, letting go of that long held breath. “I Miss You” concludes the whole album emotionally and wistfully as it finally seals the end of the journey.

Smaiblue is undeniably a creative artist. One who creates music which at the same time takes your mind away to a different state without you realizing. It seems like he expresses the music the way he has initially thought inside his head without even attempting to perfect it. Yet this comes out more than flawless and emotionally powerful yet calm in how he expresses himself. It is this rawness that makes the album worthy of praise.

The album was released on all of your favorite music streaming platform December 2019.
